Peruvian surfer Joaqu\u00edn del Castillo, a local of Punta Hermosa, suffered a serious accident while training in Hawaii for the Backdoor World Championship. The incident caused a hip fracture that required emergency surgery, but due to the lack of international health insurance, Joaqu\u00edn needs financial help to cover the medical expenses. Despite the successful surgery, Joaqu\u00edn remains in Hawaii during his recovery, thanking the support and solidarity of his followers through social media. His cousin, Sebasti\u00e1n G\u00f3mez, has launched a request for help and organized a GoFundMe<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/span> to cover the treatment costs. The surfer expects to return to Peru on January 18, anticipating a recovery period of three to four months.
