The Cross Festival in Punta Hermosa is an event deeply rooted in the identity and faith of its residents. From its humble beginnings in the 1960s, when Saturnino Arroyo's family kept vigil over a Cross at their home, to becoming a community celebration that brings together neighbors and visitors, this festival reflects devotion and love for the Holy Cross.<\/p>

Guided by religiosity and the desire to commemorate the Cross, Mr. Benjam\u00edn Moscoso and a group of neighbors built a Cross atop the Kontiki beach hill. Since then, every year, the devotees make the pilgrimage of the Holy Cross through the streets of Punta Hermosa, sharing blessings with the crowd.<\/span><\/p>

The tradition of the Cross Festival has been preserved thanks to the foundation of the Brotherhood \u2013 Punta Hermosa in 1973. This organization has worked tirelessly to keep the essence of the celebration alive, which holds deep meaning for all the residents of Punta Hermosa.<\/span><\/p>

The main celebration takes place during the first week of May, starting with a nine-day novena that culminates in the traditional festival on Saturday. However, the activities related to the celebration this year extend from April 25th until the main date on May 4th.<\/span><\/p>

During these days, various activities take place, including the daily liturgical novena at the headquarters of the Brotherhood of the Most Holy Cross. Each day is dedicated to different groups and communities within Punta Hermosa, culminating in the Vigil Mass, the procession of the bier, and the iconic fireworks display at the Cruz Park.<\/span><\/p>
